DCCC Lays Down Nearly $8 Million in TV Ads This Week Alone
The Democratic Party’s campaign arm is putting money into districts across the ‘House battlefield’
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has gone on the offensive with its advertisement spending, dropping almost $8 million this week alone across 26 House races to protect Democratic incumbents and flip GOP-held seats.
Since the DCCC began making “weekly investments” in House races through coordinated advertisement purchases at the start of September, the organization has focused on defending existing Democratic Congressional districts and supporting candidates in its Red to Blue program.
According to a press release, this week marks the first time the DCCC has spent more on offensive rather than defensive districts. In the fight to unseat Republican incumbents, the DCCC has aired coordinated broadcast, digital and cable advertisements in Arizona, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Texas, among other states.
“This week’s investments make clear that the DCCC is continuing to go on the offensive in Trump-won districts across the country, highlighting just how deep our battlefield is for November,” DCCC National Political Director Brooke Butler said in a statement. “Democrats are poised to hold onto key Frontline districts, and flip existing Red districts Blue thanks to the quality of our candidates and our laser focus on bringing down high costs and rooting out corruption.”
The DCCC is the Democratic party’s main campaign arm for House races. In the past few months, the organization has ramped up activity around the upcoming midterm elections as the Democratic party tries to wrest the House and Senate from Republicans.
In August, the DCCC raised $12 million to support its efforts, bringing its total war chest for this year’s midterms elections to $222.3 million. The organization started September with $76 million cash-on-hand, which it has used to power Democratic candidates across the country.
“The American people are desperate for leaders who will fight for an affordable America and take action to lower costs, not clock out early while hardworking families struggle to afford everyday expenses like gas and groceries,” DCCC Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene (WA-01) said in a press release.
“When Democrats take back the House Majority under the leadership of Speaker Hakeem Jeffries, we’ll get to work lowering costs, end Trump’s sweeping tariffs, roll back their cruel cuts to Medicaid, restore the ACA tax credits, and stop their reckless war in the Middle East,” she continued. “Voters are eager for change and in November, they will power us to victory.”
